Front seats for an '85?

Are there any other factory Toyota seats or other factory brand that will bolt right in place of the drivers seat on an '85 4Runner?

Will a 2nd gen 4Runner seat work?

i bought a Scat ProCar seat from summit. they sell brackets for every toyota model (i think). on the lowest elevation setting, the seat sits a little higher than stock, which is nice. firm and supportive, but somewhat expensive.

I just checked out summit, those seats are not too bad. Brackets ar ea little spendy, but it beats having to fab some stuff up...I may go that route.

I did this very swap into my 85 runner. From a 94 runner, I harvested a pair of front seats. They are 6 way adjustable including lumbar support and side bolster support. They have head rests which ratchet tilt forward and auto return. In other words, they are nice.

The driver side bolted right up with a little patience. They are a bit narrower than the 85 seats, but only by a hair at the rails. They will fit.

The passenger side was more involved since the 94 runner had rear doors and didn't need to slide forward for rear seating ingress and egress. So if I wanted to use the 94 runner's passenger cushions, I had to hybrid the upper frame with the 85's lower frame and rails. Turns out, after I removed the upholstery on the upper cushion, I could see that the lower cushion and frame would bolt directly to the 85's rails if I added three flat washers per mounting bolt as spacers between the cushion frame and the rails. Then, the upper cushion frame from the 94 runner need only to have been disassembled far enough to expose the four mounting bolts (two per side) enough to remove it from the 94 rail unit and mount it to the 85's rail structure. To my delight, the mounting holes line up exactly between the two frame rail units so I didn't need to make an adapter.

In the end, I have a hybrid arrangement that is comfortable and stylish. Just need to find some rear seats to match.....

Edit: the whole swap cost me $40.00. I reassembled my 85 runner seats in a reverse hybrid and sold them for a profit which offset the cost to only a couple of dollars.

You and everybody else in the world wants new Toy seats for their old toy. What I did was go down and get a set of newer accord seats from the local JY for $100. The front two bolts lined up perfect for my 85 but I had to drill holes for the rear two.

They sit way higher than the stock ratted out bench which was nice and the driver seat has power height adjustment which I wired up so I can really jack it up if I need to see over the hood better.

Cool, that would be fine too. Doesn't have to be Toyota for me, as long as it's better than the stockers and lines up reasonably well.

Late 90's accord

The two front holes line up. Fab the rear ones. Mine have the lumbar adjustment, and side cushion adjustment to keep you from moving side to side.
