Question Lift Kit Questions

I want to buy a cheaper lift kit like rough country 3" and it dosent come with longer brake lines or drag link. Will it work without that or do I have to buy that seperate?

I would think you would need to get the drag link and brakelines. I am not sure if it's *REQUIRED*, although I tend to lean towards the "it's better to have it and not need it than to not have it and need it badly!"

Well, to me that's just two things you don't 'wait' on - Steering & Brakes. If either fails you best grab your Rosary Beads and start chanting up something quick!

I would say be safe, wait to put it on until you have the drag link & longer brake lines.

Just my $.02!

i would agree with luv24by. previous owner of my truck installed 3.5" lift without drag link although he did install new brake lines. screwed up steering pretty good. i now have to take it in to get aligned/adjusted after i install the drag link.

When I bought my '81 a couple of months ago it had an unknown 4" lift on it...Just doing the hollywood driveway flex I noticed the stock brake lines were stretch to max..placed an order to Trail-Gear, $75 and 3 days later I had the lines (f/r) on my truck. Now I am not worried about the brakes. Lifted trucks drive different anyway, do it right the first time and save yourself some hardship down the road..JMO...

You could lift it and do it all at once, and like NOT die...

Like if you lift it and don't extend the brake lines and you wait, and they fail, and a semi-hits ya cause you couldnt stop, your dead.. hence:

You could do it all at once and NOT die..

i have a crummy pro comp lift and it came with the brake lines and a new dropped drag link. yeah get the brake lines for sure if your lift doesnt come with them. you may not care about your brakes failing but the family you hit will.

I guess that depends.... Do you like stopping?

Save your money and buy a good lift kit. It's always worth it in the long run.
