Damn $15k in 1989? Wasn't that a lot back then? I don't know, since I was only 7 lol.

I was going to get a fully loaded one - sticker was like 18k or 19K

Yes - that was alot back then.

I think a Pathfinder was maybe $1000 less similarly equipped.

I got that one for $12,999

Its funny seeing the IFS as "standard". Too bad it wasn't optional!

Well sure power steering was an option. We used to have a 92 truck without the cigarette lighter, no PS no AC and it was carbed

I like the wording on the warranty "Virtually the Entire vehicle". A little vague, I don't think they would get away with that now! lol.

I remember the dealer going
"So - how about buying an extended warranty?"
"I said - well since I'm planning modify the suspension and the engine....will the warranty cover modifications?"
"NO"
"So the answer is..."
"sigh... I guess NO"

I drove 30K in the first year or so...

I like the $712 estimated annual fuel costs.

it takes me all of 6 months to blow thru that now in my 87 4 banger

My dad paid 10K for his 82. I'll ask if he's got the sticker, but I doubt it...

Sounds about right.

Before I got the one pictured, I had a line on a LOADED Gen1 4Runner SR5 with every option imaginable.
Gold paint
Tan interior
MoonRoof
SR5
I think running boards too.

The salesman threw out a price in the $17,500 range.
That was (according to my data) Dealer Invoice.
It was out of my league, so my Dad and I kept looking.
A few days later (but the next month) we decided to go back and get it.

First the price went up by $200 or so.
OK - thats fair.

So we sat down and got down to brass tacks
-- Floor mats - $75
-- Nope
-- Its required
-- oh.... alright
-- Tags and title - $250
-- um its $35 at NJDOT
-- Oh thats for our HANDLING
-- well I'll take it down to NJDOT
-- No - we have to take it down and its $250
-- Ok Dad - we're leaving
-- Where are you going
-- Out
-- You cant do that
-- BYE....

I got the one pictured for a low ball price
-- salesman had a clue and didnt jerk me around (later went to Lexus - good for him)
-- it was a low ball come on ad in the paper (NEW 1989 4Runner next too a pic of a Gen2 model - oops)
