Basket case 4runner ? about torque converter
Hey All! havn't posted anything here in a while! I guess that's good, means everything is workign ok! LOL!
I picked up a another 86 4runner. It was a basket case, motor and tranny out of it most of the interior gone. (My new woods runner) I got the motor back in it and am gettign ready to put the tranny back in, problem is I don't have a torque converter for it. i was on the Transtar website looking at converters. http://www.transtarindustries.com/ca...D=38&strIDS=38
under the toyota link adobe page 124.
it lists part No. TO-26 (85 - on;4runner, cressida, supra 2.8/3.0L, Issuzu and Tacoma 3.4L. 9" bolt circle dia .5"tall Mtg Pads.)
then Part No. TO-40 (1986 - on pickup 2.4L 9'bolt pattern .375" tall Mtg Pads)
this is where i'm confused, as this is a 4runner. but the tranny and the engine is the same as that in the pickups. so I don't understand why they would list two different torque converters. the visible difference is the mounting pads and the thing that fits in the end of the crankshaft of the motor. My gut says to go with the truck one (TO-40) the other tranny that i have is out of a truck and there is no difference in the trans or the bell housing or the other flywheels I have with that from the 4runner. I wonder if it is a typo in there description?
Thanks all! sorry bout the lenght of the post. tried to describe scenario best i could! LOL!
Peace Out!
Rick
