Amp instal (pics)

I got My amp and subs about a month ago, and finally found the time to get them wired right.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

I couldnt believe how many french fries were under my seat! I need to do something with that carpet, it is naaasty.

What are the downsides of not fastening the amp to the floor? I cant imagine it bouncing around too much down there. I just dont want to drill holes in my floor.

Much better.. I can't stand peoples rigs that have shotty amp wiring. I've personally seen two fires from set ups exactly like you had in the first pic. I'd say the biggest drawback to not bolting down your amp is a theif would have a much easier time taking it from you.

the only other issue (besides thieves) would be the wiring coming loose from the amp sliding around and pulling on them. one solution would be velcro on the bottom of the amp. the stiff side of industrial velcro would hold to the fuzzy carpet. another idea would be very short screws that would only penetrate the carpet and padding. once the fibers of the carpet wrap around the screws, it's not going to go anywhere.

just some ideas...

I hear that. My truck ALMOST lit up in flames from the previous owner's horrible hack job wiring just last week! Got it fixed now though. Scared the poopoo outta me.

Good work on the wiring. I'd suggest securing it somehow just for the anti-theft like said before, also it won't rattle around (if it does now).

Looks like my wife used to own your truck...she spills coffee all over everything. I bought one of the little green machines by Bissell at Home Depot....It really cleaned it up nice...and I have it handy for when she spills...maybe I should just install it in the back of her Sequoia.

The stains were horrible. This truck was also owned by a coffee drinker. I don't think that I have spilled any liquid down there in the past year, but I sure did get lot of fast food down there.

I like the velcro idea! I think I will try that when I take it out to clean it up.

You will love that 350 Alpine. I have the same amp powering a JL 10W3 and it puts that sub to work like it owes it money!

Angry

I have recently purchased a headunit, amp, speakers, headrest monitors, and a 8" sub. I am planning to do the install myself. With no previous experience I have been using what little information provided in the headunit's manual. I was unable to open the pics you have posted. Do you or can you give me any advice on the installation of these items?
