is there any other differences between a 1986 carburated 22re and a 1990 fuel injected 22re besides the intakes? i got a 1986 motor to put in my 1990 and it looks to me as if the intake is the only difference.

lots more
upper and lower intake manifold
I dunno if the 85 is a laser block if its not the blocks are different
Not too sure but the earlier 22R had a dual row timing chain and a different timing chain cover to go with it (and water pump etc)
Fuel injector impedence (22RE differences between the early and late)
etc...
The differences are major or minor depending on what yer doing...
why did ya ask?

You mean taking a "long block" (block and head) from an 86 carb motor (22RE is by definition fuel injection - thats what I thought the "E" was for) and swappin it in?
If they are both laser blocks Im pretty sure it will work.

yeh using the long block . i thought the "E" was for electric fuel pump and the 22r was mechanical fuel pump.the 22r te was the turbo .
