How low can you go?

I just filled up today after running my truck way low on gas. I was heading home real late last night so I didnt want to stop and fill up. Well my truck was on E when I left last night, drove about 35 miles home praying I wouldnt run out. Oh yeah this was doing about 70 with no overdive (quit working last night) So this am woke up kinda late so I didnt have time to fill up, drove about 5 miles to work then another 5 at lunch to the gas station.

Put 15.2 gallons in it. I was thinking it was a 15 gallon tank. But my old truck was a 34 gal. tank and the most I could put in it was 32 gal.

Whats the most you guys have put in your tank?

I believe the tank is 17 gallons. I have put 17.3 in my 86 22RE. 17 gallons plus the extra in the filler neck.

I just fill my tank when it gets to 1/4...makes me feel like I'm buying less gas, don't like to see the big numbers on the pumps. (Yes I know...I just go there more often...)

On most Toyota's I have ever had experence with the fuel light will come on when there is 2 gallons left in the tank. Gives you pleanty of time.

i dont have a fuel light. lol. anyways, ive driven about 20miles or so after the arrow has hit empty. fit 11.9 in my 12 gallon tank. not bad. i believe its better to fill up arond a quarter tank though so a-ur fuel pump doesnt work as hard, and b-ur pump doesnt pick up the sediment and such that has sifted through to the bottom of your tank.

They are supposed to have a fuel light but I've run mine completely out on 3 different occasions and it's never come on.

At one time I could run 60 miles after I hit the big E but not anymore. I'm lucky to get 25 miles after that now.

I put 20.2 gallons in mine one time (xtracab V6). Not sure what it's supposed to be....

most i have ever put in was 18.2...truck was sputtering like crazy on the way to the gas station...see i usually always put my wallet in my back right pocket...but that day i put it in my backpack, and well my buddy took my backpack cuz it had his stuff in it...so i didnt see my wallet for a few days and i had NO money...woke up late for work one day, and no one was around for me to bum some cash off of...wound up driving to work, parking it, got back around 7 at night, drove about 10 feet down the road and it was already sputtering...good thing the driver i was with then bummed me 10 bucks.

ps its a 91 3vze with an 18 gallon tank

i beat you all... i ran out of gas completely. my sending unit is messed up. full is way above the full line then it drops slow then when it hit 3/4 it drops to a 1/4 really quick (like after burning one or two gallons) then goes slow and empty empty is below the e line.

Your tank depends on the size tires it came with. 17.3 gallons came with size 225 tires. 18.8 gallons came with 31's.

I think it's impressive. I've read every tank has a half gallon in it when a vehicle runs out.

I think this is true for most of us.

Mine is the same, luckily my light comes on and saves me. Don't we have to drop the tank to change the sending unit.
