Smitty Nerf's Install

I received my Smittybilt Nerf Bars a couple of days ago. I was going to install the front brackets when I noticed the bolt given wasn't catching the nut thread that is welded onto the frame. I think it may have rusted inside the nut. I'm going to pick up a thin wire brush tomorrow, does anybody recommend a solution or something that will clean this nut out?

I just recently got the smitty nefts as well. I am very pleased with them, but the only downfall is that there is no room for the OEM style front mud flaps to go on. Kinda sucks. Either way, I think im gonna do away with the smittys, and get some sliders. If anyone is interested in them let me know.

Did you have any problems with the metric nut on the front brackets?

No, no problems with the threads welded to the frame. The only problem I came across was two of the bolts threads that came with the nerfs were off causing them to strip.
