Where's your oil pressure at?
Just got the 4Runner going and I think the oil pressure is a tad on the low side. Heres where it reads. This morning when the motor was cold the oil pressure was a little higher. But once it warms up this is where it runs. Is this normal?

Well the oil level is correct and im running Penzoil 10w30. I just replaced the head gasket so there was a lot of anti-freeze in the oil when I drained it. Im going to change the oil again today and see if theres any anti-freeze left in there. If there is any left I might run a quart of ATF in there for a little while, if not im just going to run the 10w30 and a quart of Lucas.
Im just curious because the pressure is definatly low but I dont know what it was at before the head gasket job since I didnt own the truck then. Anymore opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

ive heard 10psi for every 1000 rpm so 5-8psi for a low idle like mine i figure is normal. hot at my low idle barly registers.
Mine runs about there when crusing the highway.
In the morning cold, at 3K ill read 2nd tickmark.
i have no idea what pressures corilate to the idiot gauge

My factory gauge would show on the low side when hot, but it went out and now i have a aftermarket,, It has great oil pressure.. It will hold between 35 and 40 hot at a idle, but the factory gauge would be real low like yours is

If that gauge is accurate, it's time to put another oil pump on it. You need to check it with a manual pressure gauge either way to be sure. would probably be a good time to just install a good aftermarket pressure gauge, anyway!

My new Tacoma (4.0L) doesn't even have a pressure guage. I get an idiot light instead. WTF
This makes me think the pressure guage that came with the 3.0 vehicles is mostly just for show.

^ ditto, my gauge stays at 0-1 normal driving somtimes will go up to the first little mark but not often.
Has been like that for 3+ years so I think my pressure is fine

All toyotas read like that for some reason, I think its the location of the sensor. My 3.4L T100 hovers around half and quarter during city driving..

the first thing i would do is change the sensor. when the orifice gets clogged on that sensor, it will show low and/or erratic readings. sensor for a gauge is about $30, but if it bugs you that might be worth it. i also, however, have heard that these gauges are innacurate and vary a lot just from vehicle to vehicle. its kinda there just so you can say you have one i guess

Yeah, mine stopped working about a year ago on my '95 truck. Since the engine was still running, I figured all was okay. I guess salt or water got up in the connection somewhere. About six months later, it started working again.

Thanks for all the replies.
I think im going to get an aftermarket guage.
But what about the sensor, can you get an aftermarket sensor? One thats more accurate?
Also thinking about a trans temp guage
Anyone have any pics of a good place to mount 2 guages?
