Question Toyota rod bearings or auto part stores brand???

Rebuilding the top end on my 85 pickup and got to thinking at the bottom end a little (always get into more than just a little fix!) Thinking of doing the piston rings while I was there but I have heard that replacing the rod bearings with anything other than Toyota factory bearings will most times cause a engine knock? Haven't got to call yet, but I've heard that toyotas bearings are about $300-400!!! As where I can get summits or damn near anywhere else for a fraction of the cost. Thought that you all would be the best ones to ask! Anyone run into that on a rebuild on 22r? Thoughts are greatly appreciated!

I have used engnbldr's stuff in my rebuilds. It's top notch. I will never go to big chain parts houses for critical components again.....
