Newbie question San Fran Bay Area Muffler Shops?

Hey Guys,

I took my 93 Runner south this weekend to visit some family. The Bilsteins HD/OME Steering Stab. are GREAT! Truck rode great all the way down there. I had some trouble getting over the grape vine, the truck is a DOG going up hill. I never felt anything so bad, it was a horrible feeling! (my other car is an 86 Omni GLH Turbo running 16 pounds of boost). I'm thinking about changing out the muffler to a cat back, as I know I will be making this trip again. Anyone recommend a good shop in the east bay area? I'm thinking it would be cheaper to go with a high flow cat, a magnaflow and change out the piping to the 2.25" than going with a pre-fab borla type kit. Any suggestions guys? I know this wont do anything major to performance, but a little is better than none right? Please advise me on performance aditions I can do to the truck.

Thanks for any and all help!

I know what you mean about that 3.slow engine. Going up to six flags (up the 5 freeway) from southern cali my engine could barely keep it at 70 with a decent RPM. it has a slight incline. everytime i finally got it up to speed it felt like i was pushing on the gas way too hard

as for the muffler.... no help there, sorry

maybe this will help, since we're on the topic of mufflers

heh, have a good night

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to tell you...

I purchased the Dynomax ultra turbo muffler, and stainless steel tip as some of the threads recommended and had Golden Muffler and Brakes in Daly city to the install. They charged me 90 bucks to install both muffler and tip, and changed the pipes out from the cat back to 2.25". Truck feels great! Feels like it cruises better at 70mph, feels more effortless. No noticable change in exhaust sound in the cabin. Going to do the modified ISR mod next and maybe Downey headers in the future.

Over all, I am very very happy with this new mod.

Thanks for all the help!
