22R Intake manifold stuck

I have removed all the bolts in the intake and it appears to be stuck to the head. Currently I have aggressively pounded on the intake with a large rubber mallet. I have used a 4x4 block and the mallet to add mass.

The intake does not move or even appears to want to be removed from the head. Currently I am soaking the gasket edge with liquid wrench.

The head moves just fine. The intake just won't come off.

Any suggestions?

Did you get the allen head bolt by the thermostat housing? You might not see with the fuel rail still on. The manifold might be a /little/ stuck on, but with all the bolts removed the intake should pretty much pop right off. Don't force it!

That thing should come right off, especially with what you've tried. Look it over again real good and make sure you got all the bolts out.

I recall reading some thread eons ago people have run into the same problem and there was one little bolt commonly over looked.

This is the bolt that they are refering to and is causing your problems.

it's a pain in the ass to search for exact answers. but after taking of the trottle body the 2nd intake peice after removing all 4bolts,1bolt that holds the support arm (i guess that's what it's for) and 1 on the driver side of the mainfold it's loose but it wont come off i've sprayed degreeser all over still nothing shows how many bolts total to get it off besides the allen bolt

THANK YOU!! I just went through exact same scenario as the OP and was going to post up a question about the same thing.

Took that allen bolt off and the intake manifold came loose, FINALLY!

Can someone sticky this thread on behalf of other poor suckers like me??!!

I just spent an hour trying to take my intake off and was definitely losing my cool so I decided to go get a beer and check yota tech. You guys rule. This post saved me from throwing tools at the wall in my garage.
