In dash LCD

Have any of you guys thought about making a custom bracket to take place of the cupholder (ie: pull out and flip up)... I've been thinking about doing it when I got some funds and having a Carputer mounted somewhere else in the vehicle.... Aside from losing the computer... it seems that you could completely conceal the display... even putting the front "cupholder" piece on it to blend in 100%.

I think I'm going to go through with it... I can always relocate the cupholders or just not have 'em. The ones in the dash amplify the bumps so much...

seriously, i find that most bottles don't fit in those holders, and for cans, something's gunna spill unless it's half empty/full.

i say ditch 'em and go for your sweet idea. good luck.

Figure I'll roll this into my carputer thread at the same time.

Dual processor min.
1gb ram min.
at least 80gb HD
7" touchscreen
integrate into main audio setup via Alpine HU
GPS communication
internet communication via phone (usb)
keyboard/small mouse
DVD player (second DIN slot)

I can program my own software for ease of use while driving, but what else might I be missing/ things that'd come in handy?

What do you plan on making the brackets out of?

Probably small sliders that connect to the bottom end of the LCD where there will be a pivot..

cool, I was thinking about making a bracket for a Radio Shack CB so it would mount it below the stereo with stock stereo brackets. Looked into making it out of extruded plastic, that way the cash is spent on a mold and each piece is pretty cheap to make. Sold my 1st gen before I perfected the bracket prototype.
