I'm into it for $14K and never wheeled it. I've put 1500 miles on it since I bought it.
I'd like to get ~$9500 for it, but I can negotiate a bit. I guarantee it's the cleanest in the midwest, not counting my 89.
It does have some body damage that you can see in the pics... done by previous owner.
Here are the specs:
4Runner specs:
88, grayish/blue on gray
V6, 5-speed, 114K miles, fully optioned SR5
Engine:
Original head gaskets
Downey headers
K&N Drop in filter
Custom magnaflow exhaust
Drivetrain:
Rebuilt R150F
Marlin Adapter to 23 spline tcases w/ 4.0 gears in the rear
All Pro tcase cross-member modified for dual mounts
All Pro tcase brake
High Angle front shaft, CV Rear
5.29's and ARB's front and rear; HP front, V6 rear.
Air shift Tranny shifter controlling the ARB's
SAS:
FRORF front mount w/ custom frame bracing by LCR4WD
4" front AP springs
AP shock hoops
Doetsch Tech Gas shocks up front
5" AP springs in rear, frenched hangers, Doetsch Tech shocks
3/4" spacers up front
AP steering
Braced front axle
AP axle protection
35" SSR's on 15x8 Weld Racing Roadhawk wheels
Other:
Can-back w/ rack mounts (the rack in the pictures didn't come with the vehicle when I picked it up)
ARB front bumper, modified for SAS
M-8000 winch (12 Volt guy in-cab controller sitting in a box)
Badland bumpers rear tube bumper/tire carrier (not in pictures)
Vai-air 550 compressor and 3-gallon tank
Needs:
nerf bars (have them, from 4xInnovations.com. Need to weld on)
new rear springs (driver's side is sagged - i have 4" AP's to go with it, just not yet installed)
Vai-air has a short somewhere; likely going to install an in-line switch under the hood
winch isn't wired right now; haven't wired it since LCR4WD fixed the front end; 30 minute fix.
rear license plate holder doesn't have a light.
Plenty of pics at http://www.rockota.com/images/884Runner/ of what it looked like when I bought it. Sits a little lower now and has the tire carrier and different tires/wheels.
No rust. Everything works. Runs great and pulls better than my 96.
It's completely turn-key. Put gas in, lock the ARB's and point it...

1988 4Runner for sale in Iowa....

I took this truck across Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah and then back last summer, no problems.
I've also got a 1993 Toyota ext. cab pickup, 5 speed, 22re that I'm looking to sell potentially. I can get pictures if interested.
PM me if interested.

Ive gone one in PA w\ 129,xxx miles.. its an 89
White SR5 V6 5-Speed.
Wing windows.
Paint is pretty good but a few spots need touched up.
Tires have less than 2k miles on them (31x10.5) Kuhmo Road Venture AT's
I have three sets of wheels to go with it.. stock, aftermarket alloys, and black rock crawlers (15x8's)
Has a 2" catback exhaust with a glasspack muffler.
ISR mod
Warn Manual Hubs.
New 02 sensor, downpipe, plugs, wires.
The truck couldnt have run any better new..its really nice. I think it has more pep than my dads 3rd gen.
Oh yea.. im the 2nd owner of this truck. my dad bought it from a guy who bought the truck in 1988 and drove it till 2003 when he bought a 4th gen runner. The truck was given to me by my father when i got my licence. I many be young but i save the fast driving for my bike. The truck has NEVER been redlined. I dont need to drive fast in it so the engine and clutch are really treated well. Oil has always been changed every 3k miles or less. OEM toyota clutch was put in at 115k miles.
If you want any pics let me know.
Im looking to get $3700 for it.

When I was originally looking for a 4Runner, I really wanted a 1st gen.. then I saw the truck I own now. I LOVE IT. Even though you are set on the 1st gen... maybe consider my 2nd gen? It has the rear tire carrier, lc coils... rancho self adjusting shocks. It rides very nice and has pretty good pickup for a 3vze. I was asking $4300 obo, but am very very flexible on the pricing. I drive a lot (a couple hundred miles a day) so a small car was better suited to what I do... I hate to get rid of it, but know I have to. It also has a 1st gen rollbar retrofitted into the cargo area. I have a thread about the sale '91 4Runner for sale

4800.00 obo.....truck is near pittsburgh, pa
35" BFG's...BRAND NEW, alloy wheels, 5.5 inches of lift, only one rust spot from a rock in the quarter when doing some crawling. Truck has been wheeled very lightly and very infrequently. Interior is very nice...split in the dash in one spot...otherwise clean. Dash lights don't work, but a ghetto setup is in place for now. Engine bay is so clean it looks like it left Toyota last week.

im sorry but tell me why i would want to spend $5000 on a truck and then paint it???? i am currently in the middle of paintint my 98 ZR2 and its costing me $1000 in materials.... so explaine to me how your truck is worth $6000 and i still wont be interested.... honestly if i were to offer you something it would be $2-2500.... its a basic truck with a basic lift..... so good luck selling it
