1990 4runner 3.0 - what's a convenient 12v switched power source

Hi.

I need to tap into 12v switched near the battery / fuse box.

I tried the 7.5amp "Charge" circuit. Can't get it to work; don't understand why.

Need an alternative.

Don't want to install a 2nd fuse box.

I need it for a relay; very low current draw.

Thx.

I think all the circuits in the under hood fuse box are not switched, you'll probably have to look inside the vehicle for a switched one. Just run a wire through an existing firewall grommet and connect to the ignition or a switched circuit in the under dash box.
