Roof Rack Mounting 2nd generation

Just wondering if any one knows the best way to mount a custom basket roof rack, nothing to fancy my nieghboor is rigging it up for me and we just trying to figure out the best way to mount it to the roof,

I was thinking either 4 sheet metal screws in each of the 4 corners of the basket to the roof,, or even bolting it straight through the roof attatching it that way,,

i just wanting a method that is duramble and not gonna break in the bush for me, If any one has got pics or ideas i would appreciate it greatly

Thanks alot

Me and Pop's are working out plans for something like this for the 90.
We had talked about taking the headliner down and either using large fender washers and a roof cross brace or adding a cross brace and thru bolting it and weatherproofing it.
I personally wouldn't trust a metal screw to hold on your rack brush or not. Got to imagine its going to be a few pounds and then add the weight of what you are going to put on it and you will probably shear those screws.

There was a guy here last week or the week before who retroed a rack on using some special thread serts he got from his Buddy's shop. You can search for it and see what they used.
