1988 P/U 4x4 3.0 5spd.
I'm selling my 1988 Toyota pickup. I has the 3.0 V6 with a 5 speed and 153xxx miles on it.
The Good: The engine and driveline all work well. I used this truck to get me back and forth to work during the snowstorm in Feb. and it did a fine job. I bought this truck with 139xxx and had a brand new clutch installed when I purchased it. It was my daily driver for nearly two years and never left me stranded, and is probably the most dependable vehicle I have ever owned.
The Bad: The passenger side window does not fully close. There is about a 1.5" gap between the top of the window and the top of the door. The passenger side seat was removed by a previous owner and was replaced with some cheap furniture cushions fabricated to work like a passenger seat. Its not the best replacement, but it does work. It has an intermittant fuel leak by the rear tire, buit it was not leaking during the times I was driving it last month, and I'm betting thats due to the leak being frozen shut by the snow. This truck was originally owned by some business that had a sign mounted to the top of it. I did my best to seal the mounting holes, but the cab does leak a little water when it rains.
The ugly: The bed needs replaced. Its just too rusted away to be of much use anymore. Atleast with anything of any signifigant weight. The frame does have some rust holes on it. I can only recommend this truck if you have some welding skills to weld patch plates on the frame.
This truck would make a fun offroader, or light hauler if you replace the bed and patch the frame. You could also use it as a parts truck if you have another 4x4 toyota in need of a solid driveline which this truck does have. I'm only asking $400 obo as I want this thing gone. If you have any further questions call me at (317) 496-7114. The truck is located on the westside of Indianapolis.
