Exhaust systems for 22re pickup

Exhaust systems for 22re pickup
Been searching around for info on exhaust setups, seems like I've heard mostly about flowmaster. I'm assuming that the flowmaster setups would have to be put together by a shop. I'm looking for a kit I can install myself.
I found this on the Summit site:
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...189+4294905933
Seems like the Pacesetter TFX catback is really similar to the LC engineering 22r/re kit (as far as dimensions):
LC - 2.25" all thru to a 3" tip
Pacesetter - 2" --> 2.25" --> 3.5" tip
Anybody used the pacesetter setup? Any idea about the sound as it compares to the LC, magnaflow, flowmaster setups?

That's a muffler and some pipe. See your local muffler shop - they might beat the price installed. At $200, I'd expect a full setup by my local shop with a "turbo" type muffler.
Also, I wouldn't expect much out of that $$ - it's still bottlenecked before the cat.
Spend your $$ on a header.

I'd really stick with exhaust shops, Its just easier and can be cheaper. In my experiance I've been cheaper gettin exhaust shop to do mine and buying a muffler and cat from Summit or Jegs. My truck was $200 for manifold back split to duals with 3 1/2 inch tips, I bought my own muffler and high flow cat

I don't want anything real loud. But I am looking for a performance enhancement. This would actually be my first performance mod to my truck.
The writeup I've been referencing in my search has been the blip in:

That guy seems to know ˟˟˟˟˟.
I've heard the magnaflow is quieter. For my needs, maybe:
manifold --> 2" --> magnaflow --> 2.25" ?
Recommendations for muffler/cat models??

So they compensated for this, and for ground clearence on some vehicles.
The best setup cost wise we have found is to use the excellent factory exhaust manifold, then increase the pipe size to 2" all the way to the muffler, yep, the cat, too. Then we increase again to 2 1/4" on exit all the way back.
This creates a bit of directional flow and frees up power, it fairly quiet and smooth.

i welded up my flowmaster 40 series myself. the exhaust shop i bought it from from was kinda pissed.
find a buddy who can weld, it can save you tons of money.
doug thorley makes a complete kit.
header, all of the pipes with 02mounts, hi flow cat, muffler and tip for about $600.
the whole system in 2.25"
look for it on summit's site.

Yeah I have on every vehicle...On this one I ordered my cat from ebay like usual ($57 to my door for a high flow magnaflow) And ordered my muffler from Jegs. I usually get tips off ebay too But I just went ahead and added them to my total at the exhaust shop this time.

I have the Downey header and 2.5" exhaust system. It's loud.
I bought it for my dad's yota and he hated the noise so he had it taken off. I grabbed the parts and shoved them in the garage in case he ever sold his yota. Well now i got his truck and I am putting the stuff back on. I would like something quieter but the exhaust is already paid for. So loud is what I get!!

I have the cat, muffler and tip. Should go ahead and buy a header too, before I take it to the muffler shop? Or buy it later and install it myself? How hard is it to install for a person with moderate mechanical skills. I know I probably won't see any performance gains until I install the header. But the exhaust is pretty rotten. It sounds like a Singer sewing machine.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Pacemaster is garbage.
I'm running a header, no cat and a 2.25" Flowmaster Hushpower 2. I like it.
I can't believe I'm saying this as normally I hate on Flowmaters but the Hushpower is really nice.

If the Pacemaster sucks, do you know of one that doesnt? Downey any good?

I have no personal exp with Downey so I cannot comment on them.
I personally perfer Magnaflow mufflers or glass packs but after hearing the Flowmaster Hushpower 2 on my cousin's Jeep I wanted to try it on mine. I know it won't sound the same but it gave my cousin's truck such a unique sound so that's why I got it, hoping it will do the same for my truck.
I need a warm weekend to finish putting the thing on and weld it all up, it's all kinda sitting there ghetto rigged right now. Dunno when that's gonna happen but I will post some vids when it does.
