Question new cheepo runner got some probs???

so i got a sweet deal on a 91 runner last week for a grand. already put new rear brakes and axle bearings, tuned up and needin a little yota tech info.

first off when i use the heater, if i click it past the second notch on the fan setting there is a loud rumble behind the dash ??? not sure what could be the problem here?

next the tranny was replaced at 188,000 and seems to be pretty descent, but the shifter doesnt line up with the gear you have it in, drive lines up with neutral, 2 lines up with d, and so on. any info would be great.

last, im not sure when the timing belt was replaced, and was wondering if i should attempt it myself, im ok with mechanics but dont usually mess with major job, wheel bearings were cake to do. any info on these would be great

1. Sounds like you probably have some dust or crap built up on the fan

2. Linkage needs to be adjusted. Probably can't get it into L then, huh?

3. 3.0? They are due at 60k for the original one, then they redesigned the belt and you can supposedly go 90k now. Either way, you're due. I did it with some help - it's not that tough, there are a couple good writeups on here how to do it. Note that I didn't need the SST for the tensioner, went on just fine without it.
