Wiring rear aftermarket speakers in 2000 4runner
#1
Alright, so I have been searching and searching on install tips for the 3rd gen 4Runners rear speakers and can't seem to find advice on wiring tips. I recently installed an Alpine CDA-9857 HU in my 2000 Limited and now I am about to replace all 4 factory speakers with JBL Power P552's. The rear 5.25's have different connections than the factory 20W crappers, so my question is how to go about wiring them up?

either get a set of toyota speaker wire harnesses, or cut the toyota plug off and connect the two wires to the two wires/spots on the new speaker... if its not that simple you need to give more details
right?

i found the factory wiring wussy and i didnt want to use it.
ill grab pics of what i did, basically punched holes through the rubber grommets and ran my wire next to the bundle. on the front you can run it through the boot.

yep, i actually did that too, but then again everything for me is amp'ed, so new wires was pretty much a requirement

what I did was chop off the factory wiring clip and sauldered a section of wire to the speakers and attached the bare wires on the speakers to the new bare ends on the factory wireing with some crimps. works great and is easy to remove if I ever need to.

I appreciate the tips guys. Running new wire will probably be my route. Andrew, my connections are exactly the same as above, if I wanted to stick with the factory wiring. And Sean I would still be interested in those pics if you got em.

k, your deck is 18w RMS, and 50 max each channel, there is really no reason to rerun wires unless you really want to, some people will claim a huge difference, may be the case I suppose. But in the many (?50ish) speaker installs that I have done, only 2 or 3 really needed new wiring (not including craptacular cars that had none, or were so old everything was redone out of absolute necessity)..
I'd honestly either cut the stock plugs or splice wires 3-4 inches back from ends, and run them to the speaker connections
