Did my fuel filter and PCV today.

When I tried to take the Pcv out last week, it wouldn't budge, but today it popped right out. I didn't even stick the new gromet in ( it felt like it was goint to break if I tried.

Next was the fuel filter. Here is what came out of it, I will cut it open later:

Then I finally put OEM pads on the front, the cheapies squeaked like hell!

Ya there is no reason to have the dealer do it. It took about 20 minutes.

I did not notice a performance difference like some said.

I changed my fuel filter about 2 years ago, I too did not see any performance gains, but, it just made me feel better.

As for the PCV, I haven't even thought about doing that. Can you just pull it out or are there some adjustments that need to be made first?

I just changed my PCV gromet and it basically cracked... Well at first I tried using my hands, a 1/4 piece chunked off... I then got a plier and got the other piece off... I didn't drop anything into the hole... Be careful when removing the old gromet.

The new one fit nice and tight...

You should feel any difference performance-wise, but MPG usually improves slightly depending on how bad the old fuel filter was. So what Weekend_SR5 mentioned is pretty typical.

Question Fuel filter Location?

Where the heck is the fuel filter on my 99 runner 2.7? I looked on the left frame between the fire wall area and the gas tank and don't see it. My Chilton CD rom doesn't show it.

Haha, that's great!
I'm sure the mechanic saw the irony in calling it a "lifetime filter" after that.
