Boulder, CO - Carnage canyon Sun Feb 11
It's probably gonna be a skating rink after the sun this week, but I wanna go wheeling (well, Molly really wants to go).
I WILL be taking it easy though.
Let's say 10:00, CB channel 7

We ran carnage tonight and the left hand side. Was mostly dry but a few spots of snow. The trail has been run a bunch. Lefthand side was pretty muddy with standing water. I got to try out the locker and man it made life easier then i thought. Also with the new suspension adjustments i gained 4-6inches of travel in the front and way more in the rear. The shocks are limiting my down travel tho.
Anyways if i dont make it on sunday have a good run and there are TONS of shells from the idiots shooting things. There was a transmission up there too lol

The great thing about Boulder Carnage (not to be confused with Buena Vista Carnage) is that it's as hard as you want to make it. There are three lines for most obstacles - a bypass, a medium/hard line doable by streetable vehicles, and a "you better have a buggy" line, which makes it fun for groups, cuz the less built guys can go with the really built guys.
All that said, I can't guarantee you'll make it body damage free without sliders. We have taken several "stock" vehicles through with sliders damage free.
The trailhead is on Lefthand Canyon Dr, west of Hwy 36.

Last time (which was my first time) we went I made it with no lockers and getting tugged off a rock once. That same rock is the only spot I needed to have sliders. But I'm sport'n a big Land Cruiser. My buddy followed me in his stock Nissan P/U and never touched. It's all about the line you take. I came out the entire trail with minimal flare damage and that's because I was rushing. It looks like we'll have the perfect size group to spot everyone and take our time yet still have a good wheel'n day. That being said just remember every bit of damage my truck has comes with a great story.

Last night we went up with a tacoma that was open but had a 6inch lift. There were spots that he struggled and had to be pulled out once but other then that was fine. He didnt have a scratch on it.
My truck has no armor and i walked away with just a ding in my fender from being stupid other then that i was fine. I had no problems but im locked now.
I went through open and was ok getting stuck twice. We were in really deep snow. The trick i was being told by the toyota guys that were there was if its IFS you can bounce the front through about anything you just have to keep the momentum up. The other thing is dont stop on something that you cant easily pull out of. My problem was trying to keep it really slow and look over everything before doing it. I would loose my speed and find my self stuck or off camber and the drive wheel on ice or in the air.
The guys going on sunday sound like they know whats up and with spotting you should be able to run it with ease. Im still going to try for it and we will be finishing up my friends pathfinder today and tonight. There may be 3 of us but who knows how the lif ton this thing will go.
Rear needs done and the t-bars need to be put in.
I hope to make it.
