new guy, new problem

hi I am new to the forums. My wife and I just got a 1998 2.7, 4 cyl. so far we replaced the radiator and thermostat. well monday she called and told me that the truck wont start. just yesterday we replaced the pump and filter and checked the relay and fuses(sp). it cranks over and wants to start but won't. I would be thankfull for any ideas. thanks

Listen for the fuel pump to make a noise when turning the key to ON position. No sound means no fuel. Make sure relays have a good connection. Check cylider compression also. Other that that I think we need more info.

just a heads up this is the 86-95 forum. there is a forum that covers 98's, and you'll probably have more luck there.

if it wont start and cranks over you're going want to check for spark, fuel, and compression. If it ran recently, and had problems after doing work on the fuel system i'd recheck the work you did first.

I wont. bet probaly happens quite a bit. when we hooked everything back up you could hear the pump kick on. I tried to start a few times so it would suck up fuel, nothing.

does it start at all or start and quickly die? check any vacumn hoses and all your intake, maybe even try cleaning the maf since the fuel and starting problems dont appear to be the issue

ok I was mistaken about the pump when we turn the truck on the pump doesnt go on but when you turn the key off it turns on. I was just to busy yelling and screaming at to really pay attion. also is there a relay in the dash.
