The check engine light for the EGR is on on my step-mom's '96 LC. I think the dealership wanted $800 to do the job. I was wondering how hard it was to fix.

Is it the actual check engine light or is it a light says EGR? The second (EGR) is usually a reminder light that comes on after XXX amount of miles. There is usually a reset button somewhere to reset it. Some people just pull the bulb. (do not pull the check engine bulb if that is the one that is on). How many miles?

 

It is the actual check engine light. The code was pulled at the dealership and it was for the EGR. The truck has about 120K on it.
