Very Loud Vibration/grinding Noise

Howdy folks,
well, this one I don't get, lately when i drive my truck i get this intermittant sort of vibration, buzzzing, grinding thing which i can feel right throught the floor, it seems to start and stop when i hit bumps, and seems to be the worst in cold weather, though lately it seems to be happening more and more.
it kinda seems like its comming from the front end but i really dont know.
its driving me insane though, its so freakin loud!
anyone got any ideas or similar expeiriences?
thanks!

Check your U-joints! Same thing happened on my old jeep and my U-joint was busted, almost didn't make it home. Nothing you can't fix with a pair of pliers and a vice press...plus a spare joint.

Check your CV boot. If its damaged then it doesnt take long for water to wash the grease out of those axel bearings. They WILL break through there little housing and start falling out one at a time, producing a louder and more consistant noise. Intermitant at first, then worse and worse as they fall out. Starts to sound like a machine gun.

If that is the problem, you can unlock your hubs and it will go away because the shaft wont spin. Good luck.

If the boot is torn, stick your fingers in there and feel for chips. There may even be some bearings stuck in the boot.
