Crank shaft pully seal install
#1
I just replaced the seal and cant get the pully to go all the way back on. I thought that the bolt would take it back in. Is it ok to use the BFH on the end of the crank?

its a tight fit but if even the bolt won't pull the pulley back theres something wrong. make sure both surfaces are very clean and you can try applying some lube to them. I've had trouble getting the pulley off several times but never putting one back on. The pulley is not meant to be beaten on, you can dent and even break it ( ask me how i know )
that seal is typically called the front main seal BTW
if you HAVE to try a hammer don't use a metal one, get a dead-blow hammer thats plastic at the front but has metal beads in the back to give it some energy on impact, and hit mildly around the edges in a circle and see if it goes on.

check to see if the seal will operate in the same poisition as the old seal...you dont want that...unless you polish the pulley where the old seal was.
i got a different thickness seal that contacted a different poistion on the pulley. no leaks.
