v6 oil leak needs some advice
I have an oil leak coming from behind the AC pump.
Could there be a faulty gasket where that mounts to the block? Does oil run through there to lubricate a pump bearing or something?
The leak is lower than the valve cover, above the oil pan, passenger side. First visible spot is on the AC pump body itself up between the pump and the engine block.
This is not a drip, but a dribble.
Anybody been in that area before? What am I looking for here?

AC Leak
Not entirely sure about the layout of an 89 V6, but could it possibly be the power steering pump above the AC compressor dripping down on it? Does your PS fluid show low? If your AC was leaking that bad, then AC would most likely not be working.
Anyway, the O ring in PS bowl normally hardens with age and leaks pretty good sometimes.
Give us some more info other than 89 V6.

Leaking power steering pump would be my first guess as well. If the pump is dry then check for oil coming from under the front cover(cam seal) and check the corner of the head gasket for oil leaking externally(very rare if at all). If its a high mile engine it wouldn't surprise me if the front cam and crank seals are leaking under the cover and seeping out
Hope this helps
One more thought...make sure it isn't oil from a compressor leak. Is the ac working? the ac oil is in with the freon and some will escape with a freon leak

I guess I'm hoping for a power steering leak, however I fear the faulty seal.
I've got about 170000 miles on it.
Looks like I'll be taking it apart sometime this week. Should know more soon.
Thanks for all the heads up.
One more thing: Is there a good source for an online engine schematic or am I buying the book?

Ok,
I guess you have to just get up in there and figure it out.
Thought I'd start by pulling the psteering pump. I guess you have to pull off the wheel to remove the pump itself.
Then I guess you have to remove the radiator to remove the wheel to remove the ps pump.
To make a long story short, it turns out to be a bad oil seal on the passenger side cam shaft.
I figured I'd do both sides since I'm in there. Timing belt looks fine, I'm not planning on messing with that. Should hopefully be a straight forward fix. If anybody has any experience or advice on the matter it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
