Question Front pump seal replacement help

I have transmission fluid leaking from the front of the transmission (A340H) in my '95 Runner. I have been told to replace the front pump seal and nearby o-ring to stop the leak. OK, i was just told by a local mechanic that a special tool was needed to pull and replace the front pump. Is this true?? He said it was some sort of special press that a guy comes to his shop and uses on these trannys. OK, so, please someone, let me know if this is so.

It looks like the trans has been replaced or rebuilt due to some markings on the trans body, pan bolts, shift feel, etc., and i know that excessive runout/warping of the driveplate and TQ causes these seal leaks. And, if i do the repair and check the run out on the torque converter and driveplate as suggested, what do i do if these specs are off?? Replace the driveplate or TQ?? UGH!!

The front pump assembly pops right out once you have access to the front of the tranny. You just need to remove the bolts and give it a couple of smacks with a rubber mallet.

I popped mine out by just wiggling it.
