Rear Axle Strength

Rear Axle Strength
I'm going to be doing my engine swap 3vze --> 1uzfe (with sc following) this coming june and need to know what the rear axle can handle. I know it can handle a stock UZ (Twisty's, 230 horses), but with a supercharger I should be putting down around 300-350 horsepower. Do you guys think that the rear axle will hold up to it? I know that I'm going to end up blowing my front diff at one point or another, but thats another project. Thanks, Eric.

Stock axles can, and do warp over time (at the flange), especially if abused. Other than that the toyota 8" is a strong axle.
FYI, both my rears were warped @ the flange, i dont remember how badly (i forget the readings on the dial indicator) but it was bad. The wheels wobble and brakes feel like you got worn rotors.
i put the Alloy USA 4340's in from Marlin Crawler

now if I was was doing a project like you, I would get PRECISION brand gears and send them to Bobby for the "cryo and heat treat" process.....then I would have me install them.
Carrier bearing pre-load must be set high. But now that the diff is as strong as it can get, now the axles/cv's are gonna snap. Don't know of any fix there.
Solid axle time maybe?

Yeah, a solid front axle might be required to handle the power. I'll just stay out of 4x4 for a while once I get it done. The CV's can handle pretty good power when not turned can't they? I've heard that most broken CV's are caused by full lock turning and skinny pedal...
