4Runners at Moab - movie site

At the bottom of this linked page you will find a Moab Real Audio video. The 14 mg video is excellent.

The first 2.5 minutes is the famous Lions Back.

That looks really familiar. Although I'm sure a bunch of places look like that, it looks just like the spot from some television show I watched where this woman drove her jeep off of and crippled her and her husband. Later she went back and drove down it and made it and everyone was happy and crap because she conquered her fear blah blah blah... Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

that video was awesome! that's a tight runner that guy has. i wonder what tires he's running. and that arb/tjm whatever it is bumper really came in handy. poor tow hitch tho.

and toyota punk, i think i know what you're taking about. i saw some video of a couple going down lion's back, and almost at the end they went of the side. for some reason i think it was a bronco, but not sure. they lived, i don't remember anything about them getting crippled, but still it seemed pretty scary.

but based on both of those videos, lion's back seems freakin freaky. i want to try it.

yeah, to take on anything like what's in the video, you'd pretty much HAVE to have a new bumper and a locker, huh?

hm, i was thinking my next big thing would be a supercharger, but a locker sure is tempting.

Yeah you're right, the actual crash was in a bronco-type-thing. When she went back down it, she was driving a heep. I'm not sure she was cripple per se either, but she had some extensive injuries and it took her over a year to get out of the hospital. The whole thing happened as I remember because her brakes went out. So the lesson here would be to make sure you check over your vehicle before attempting something like that!

I completed Lion's Back on Saturday. It is really steep and not as grippy as the other trails. Coming down, it was so steep that my rear wanted come around on me if I didn't keep moving. That a scary feeling. You have to hug the edge near the top to stay on the perfect line.

That 4Runner is still down there in the crack. The onwer told me the guy driving was drunk and that everyone got broken arms and legs. One of the girls is still badly hurt.

A thrilling ride you have do once.

Toyota Punk, they were diving an 1980ish Chevy Blazer. From what I remember one of the brake hose lines had created a leak so they lost their brakes. Ended up going down at full speed. Which would be scarrier then hell. But, I never did here about what injuries they sustained.

Yeah they lived. Supposably the lady did a good job of keepin it fairly centered at over 60mph till they got over 3/4 of the way down when the truck was bouncing and jumping too much to control and they shot off the right side from about 20-25 feet high. Nosed truck right upto the winshield, amazingly the husband and wife survived with no serious injuries, the truck didn't live though.
That's about I all I could find on the internet about it. Was trying to find the video, but nobody has it available.

what makes you think he has a locker?

In one of the shots you see the left rear tire spinning (as well as the left front) then the camera switchs to the rigth side of the vehicle (on the same obstacle) and the right rear tire is spinning (not the front right).

So with that I assume he has an e-locker in the rear and open diffs in the front.

I guess I could be wrong.

I know this guy and I'm in the video..

This is my college buddy Michael from Portland, OR.

His white 96 SR5 4Runner has an ARB Air Locker in the rear, 5-speed and TRD Supercharger. My charcoal 96 Limited is later in the video...
