A few SE pics from today

Rain showers of course, but luckily light winds up in The Gorge.

Looking good Bob.
I really like the black in the second pic.
It has a different look to it.

What are your long term plans now with it regarding off road mods and other stuff?

Corey, I tweaked the 2nd pic only with PS to bring out shadow highlights and it distorted the color into a graphite effect. I like the unretouched color in the top pic. I'm keeping it stock, but will be taking expedition-type trips around the PNW, mostly Eastern Oregon to my opal hunting spot, plus Central Idaho and Montana between Glacier and Yellowstone.

Kevin, I'll be selling the VB when I get back from a road trip later this month.

We gotta get you up here Bob this summer for a Greenwater run.
There is even a nice hotel further up the road towards Crystal Mountain you could spend the night at, it is set in the woods off of highway 410 near the entrance to the ski resort, and also near the entranace to Mt. Rainier National Park.

Sounds good! I could leave the GF and dog at the pool while we wheel.

I have never stayed there, but I hear it is nice.
Drive by it all the time when I use to ski up there, and when I would go camping up at Mt. Rainier.

Yep, standard with the 6M/T along with the exhaust and other stuff. If I move the seat close to the wheel it feels like I'm driving a NASCAR stocker with a mellow exhuast. I like the 8-ball though, much easier and more FUN than the pistol grip.

Yes, nice improvements over my other one, more than subtle! Just babying it during break-in, but am more impressed than ever with FJ as an excellent all around vehicle.

I hoped for the rack and bumper lights, but they couldn't wait any longer. Meanwhile I'm checking into OEM upgrade bulbs like Philips X-Tremes with similar color temp (i.e., non-ricer) but more lumens.

Bob, check with the light guru Daniel Stern.
http://www.danielsternlighting.com/

He hates Piaa bulbs for one thing, and he only recommends lights that put out a better output, and not any bling.

If you contact him, let us know what he recommends for the FJ in the stock housings.
H4 bulbs
These 2-filament bulbs with P43t base are for high/low beam headlamps and Cibie BiOscar fog/drive beam lamps. Fun facts: The H4 was the world's first 2-filament halogen automotive bulb. It was introduced in Europe in 1971, and was used in many millions of European and Japanese headlamps starting in that year, but wasn't legalized in the US (where it was designated HB2 or 9003) until over two decades later, in 1992!

* 60/55W Ultra High Output Plus 50 (Narva Rangepower+50*): $17/ea

* 60/55W Narva Rangepower High Output Plus 30: $11/ea

* 70/65W Osram Plus 50: $19/ea

* 85/80W Osram Plus 50: $20/ea

* 100/55W Narva: $15/ea

* 100/90W Narva: $18/ea

* 130/100W Narva: $19/ea

*- About H4 +50 Bulb Brands:
The H4 +50 bulbs from the big four reputable European bulb makers (Philips VisionPlus, Osram SilverStar, Narva RangePower+50, Tungsram Megalicht) are functionally identical. When we pick ten samples of each and put each one through photometric, optical comparator and life tests, there's a very narrow range of performance and life differences, and those differences are randomized among the four brands.

Thanks Corey, I saw his site from another post around here. We have HB2 bulbs with a different base than H4's. Gotta be careful about that if ordering online, some places have big restocking fees or a no return policy on bulbs.

So far locally I've checked Costco, Wal-Mart, AutoZone, Schuck's, GI Joe's, Bi-Mart, K-Mart and two motorcycle shops. Only Bi-Mart had HB2's but those were Silverstars. I want Philips X-Tremes or Vision+.

Bummer, he does not carry HB2s?
It would be a good idea to get his input, and perhaps he can get the bulbs and sell them.
