Hi I am new to this forum but I have searched all over to see if anyone has run the OME 2'' lift kit for the first gen from Slee Offroad.. It consists of

# 1 x OME303003 Torsion Bars
# 2 x OME N98 Shocks
# 2 x OME CS009R Dakar Spring
# 2 x OME N85 Shocks
# 2 x OME SB43 Bushing Kit
# 4 x OME U53 U Bolt Kit
# 1 x OME SD33 Steering Damper

I am hoping to fit 33's maybe.. anyone information would be great. Thanks

 

I can't realy help you on the 1st gen OME lift but I run a 3" OME lift on my 4th gen and love it. I just wanted to say that I have been impressed with Slee Off Road. They have a wealth of knowledge and I would totaly trust thier recomendation.

you don't need all that. Just run 33x10.50s

BJ spacers, shackles, maybe an AAL or chevy spring swap.

 

I'm running the front set up. My rear is different.

Its nice...33x10.5's will fit better than the 12.5's i have. I fit them fine, but do get some rubbing at stuff.

Slee is a topnotch place, so if you order from them, you'll not be dissapointed.

If it were me, i would add the BJ spacers, but relax the OME torsions back to stock height, thereby getting a much better ride. I'm going to relax my torsion bars down as soon as i get my new meats (33x10.5)

 

Axle has the front held up well? I will not be doing anything to crazy and do the 33x10.50's rub at full stuff? Thanks

 

The suspension has held up well. With the 12.5 tires, the steering has completely crapped. However, i will be going to a narrower tire, the 10.5, and it should work better on the steering.

I have seen a second gen with 33x10.5's w/no lift, and he doesn't seem to get any rubbing.

 

what back spacing do you guys think would be best running 33x10.50 tires with this lift?

 

I have the same rear springs on my 88 4runner and they are stiff as hell. I get no flex or droop at all. I am working with the local company I bought them from to see if they are the correct ones. He took pics and will call ARB to see what the deal is. Just an FYI. Ill post up when I get an answer. I hope they are just wrong cause I loved the OME suspension I had on my tacoma. As for the front, Im running bj spacers and 1" crank on the tbars just to try to match the height of the rear. Hopefully if i get the right height springs, I will incrank the tbar...sorry for the longwinded response

 

ok what do you guys think about this.. running the slee kit:

and adding some bj spacers and maybe a sonoran steel ifs brace and maybe a 1in body lift or just buying a superlift drop bracket style 4in lift kit. They will be about the same price so just wondering what you guys think?

have you looked into the 63" chevy spring swap for the rear?

search that, you might like that idea.

 

i'd see what larc has to say about his spring...Never had experience with their rear springs, so i don't know, but the front is great.

 

again, 63" chevies are useless on an IFS truck. They are very good on a swapped truck. Torsion bars blow in the flex department, and rear flex is wasted on a truck that has no front flex. As soon as the front hits its limit, you lift a tire, and the rear flex is wasted.

 

yeah i have looked into the chevys but i dont really want to go that direction im more interested what you guys think i should go with for the front.. i know everyone says avoid the the drop bracket lifts but it would work for the type of wheeling i will be doing

the drop bracket kit will give you lots of room for big tires, but will cost more than the set up in your first post, unless you buy it used. If you feel that you'll be wheeling trails that make that lift appropriate, i think you will be fine. The issue seems to be with highspeed jumping, or rock crawling style wheeling, where the added leverage tends to bend or break the frame. If you aren't going to be beating on it, you should be fine.

 

well i wont be doing any high speed stuff but some of the trails i do get pretty bad.. just no all out rockcrawling its more muddy slopes and mild rocks

 

I just purchased a set of Dakar springs, I had initally thought I got the wrong springs, but the CS019R is the medium spring for the IFS truck and runners? and gives 1.75" lift. The CS009R was what I thought I wanted is the HD spring spec'd for the 84-85 solid axle trucks.....

I'll try to get some hard info for you tonight. I scratched my head about this too.

Don't get the torsions unless your going to a bullbar and winch, just use BJ spacers and stock torsions for now.

 

I think you'd be okay... essentially, from whats been posted here and on other forums, the bracket lifts fail when a decent force is applied to them, via jumping or ramming it into rocks.

Get what you feel is right. Lots of guys out there who love bracket lifts, i'm sure you'd have no trouble selling it on ebay.
