Check this thread out:

Also, you can go to Toyota tech info, and pay access to the database in a one day, one month, or one year term and download anything from their database within that time period. For one day I belive it is $10.

Would that website guide you through a 3vz to a 3vz motor replacement? Or is it more like a Chiltons guide?

no those are the shop manuals they are great I have one in paperback and it tells you every thing. those are much better than a chilton or hayes.
it will not tell you how to replace a motor but it will give all the info for taking it apart and putting it back together.

if you plan on taking out a motor take pics all the way through then when you go to put it back together you can look back at the pics to see how you took it apart.
I have found that most motors the vac lines can be diffrent and a pic can save you hours of time when the vac lines have been off for a few days or weeks
