saw a thread on this topic and tried to follow the link but couldn't find the info. has anyone here actually dropped the 5VZ-FE into their 2nd Gen runner? If not does anyone have any warnings, cautions or advisories, or basic hints on where to find more info regarding this matter? And thanks to all for keeping this such a friendly forum. You guys are truly my kinda folks!

Doing the swap would be the sweetest mod EVER!!!! I have my dad looking for a 3.4 as we speak for prices. He's been a mechanic for years and I know he is capable of doing this for me.

Myself included ....had been lookin to do just that before I sent the rig back to the states w/ the family. Unfortunately nothing like that product over here in Germany.

 

On the 3.4 swap... whats the difference between the housing on the auto tranny vs. the manual? I keep seeing "it's a direct bolt-up to the 5-speed." OK..... but I have an auto. What type of probs could anyone see? Wouldnt the housings be the same shape/bolt pattern between the auto and manual?
Anyone???

Thanks for that link. I sent him an email with some ??'s I've got the cash at the moment for the swap but want to do some research on it. Still have 5 months here before I leave to come stateside but would be nice to have the engine and harness sitting there!
