285/75/16 BFG AT on Stock Sport Wheel
I am planning a lift for my 2002 4Runner Sport, and I already have the tires, which I got a great deal on. I have seen opinions about the stock 16x7 wheels and BFG AT tires and rubbing the upper control arms. I have 275/70 Revos now and I have plenty of room at the control arms. Is anybody running stock rims with these tires and around a 2" lift? Is it possible or do I need spacers? Different wheels are out, as this is the wife's ride and she likes what she has. Thanks.

I ran 285 BFGs on my stock sport wheels and they will rub the upper control arm. Its not a huge deal but I bought some ATS(Inland Trucks, now) upper control arms to alleviate the problem. You could also shave your stock arms or have Schaeffer do it for you. Other than the rubbing those tires will be fine. Do a search and youll see the different options you have.

Mine rubbed on the a-arm with stock wheels, 285's and 2.5" lift. when I had that set-up.
I ditched the 285's put on 315's,New wheels with 4.5" backspacing, Chaos Arms and put a 2" bodylift on and I have been pretty happy since.

THanks for the replies. I just got my lift finished yesterday afternoon and bolted on the tires & wheels. I am using the Toytec/OME 3" lift with Tokiko green shocks and I have no upper control arm rubbing, and only a slight rub at full stuff on the pinch weld when turning. I did not install the top plate spacer, since I wanted the back to sit slightly higer unloaded, and level when loaded. The ride, drive, and handling is much improved. I plan to get everything aligned in the next couple of days to finish it off. I'll get some pictures and post them in a few days.

Update! The lift is on, the tires are on, and there is no rubbing. Check out my thread for pictures.
