Won't stay running.

Hi Folks. I have a 22RE engine (EFI) from what I believe was a 1989 toyota pickup. This engine was frankensteined into a 1955 Willy's Jeep truck body before I purchased it. It did run fine for a year but now I am having a issue.
My problem is the engine will start and run for 5 seconds and then stalls. I can do this twice then after the second attempt the engine will not even start. I was told it was the mass airflow sensor so I put in a new one but that didn't change anything. I have the same issue with the new sensor.
I tested and there is fuel flow. I googled the issue and found similar posts but nothing the exact same or with a resolution. I'm hoping someone here may have some ideas on what I can try.
Thank You!

Well, for starters, you don't have a Mass Air Flow Sensor. You have a Volume Air Flow sensor (VAF). Different technology.

The part of the VAF that could be relevant here is the FC (fuel control) circuit. Here's what you need to know: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...-quits-312747/

as we discussed before, the ex53 igniter on that engine is '85-'86 vintage, and so are the wiring harness connectors, plus it appears to have the turned-down throttle body(?) that came on the earlier engines: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f120...engine-318486/

be careful what parts you are buying, and use the troubleshooting procedures that fit your engine; here is how to read the ecu trouble codes for an early 22re, assuming that is what you have, look for the green connector shown here: https://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTr...l#Introduction

i'm curious how you connected that new vaf for a 1989 engine into the '85-'86 wiring harness that you have? perhaps it's the same connector, i don't know.

Thanks for the help guys.
I have plans on digging into this issue tomorrow. I also came across a post from 2009 on another site after hours of looking and here is what was posted.
"Switch to keep the fuel pump on is in the AFM. The pump primes for a few seconds when the key is turned to run then shuts off. That's why it will start but once the pressure bleeds off on the rail it dies.
If there is a leak anywhere after the AFM then the door in the AFM will not be held open enough to keep the pump running." So he is saying a vacuum leak after the VAF.

I'm hoping between your direction and that old post I may have a running truck by end of the weekend.

Got the engine running. Fixed a vacuum leak and a bad wire connection.
New Problem. Truck doesn't have enough power to drive. It starts & idles fine but falls on its face when the accelerator is pressed.
