Question 2nd Gen Bod Lift Valance question?

Who out there did a body lift on their 2nd gen and removed the valance? I am looking for opinions because on Sunday im doing my body lift and have thought about losing the valance cuz it looks lame.

On mine, the valence is mounted to the front bumper and goes with it if the bumper is lifted. You'll probably need to notch it for those round thing-a-ma-jiggies on the frame.

I have a 1" in the box I need to install. I've decided not to move my front bumper/valence since I have a brushguard and it would create far too much work (especially since I'll eventually be ditching the factory bumper/valence for a custom front bumper)

I threw on a 3" body lift almost 2 years ago and decided to keep the valence on. i think the bumpers without them look funny. Only problem was that to fit the lift brackets in for the bumper I had to remove two of the support struts for the valence. Makes it kinda flimsy, but not too bad...the other supports for it are strong enough to keep it stable at highway speeds and even over some rocky terrain up in the woods. Perhaps once I get my pre-runner bar the valence will come off.

The valence is attached to the bumper, as was said.

You can get brackets to raise the bumper, or you can just re-drill the holes if it is a 1" lift.

I broke my brackets during the install and got an ARB.

The answer I am looking for is not in fitment issues but looks. I think being I have an early model 2nd gen that doesnt have those round crush cylinders that look funny without the valance, it will look ok. I ran without a bumper & grill for a day a month ago while painting the portion of the body that is behind the grill & bumper. I really want to go with a bumper from www.bigrocksoffroad.com but just need to save up a few bucks.

Here's what my 3rd generation looks like with it off:

Chris

I know it's a 3rd gen, but I wasn't sure how close they were in design. In my opinion it looks retarded without it, and mine's only off to aid in the design of my custom front bumper I'm working on.

I agree seeing yours without it. What has happened is I cut away my center section of the valance. I did this so I could mount my fog lamps behind the valance. When I go to lift the body on Sunday I will have to fab where my fog lamps are mounted again. I was just looking into ditching it but to many people have told me to leave it both on YT & on the trails. Thanks for the advise guys. Ben

OMG, Ben's BigBadBlue? So it's really BBBB. If you're a beekeeper, I'll lose it.

Chris, I also was thinking of ditching my valence. After seeing your pics, I'll definitely rig something until I can ditch it in favor of a custom bumper.

It makes the world go round. I'm a little wound up, I'll admit. All in fun.

NICE!!

So, will this body lift give you 10" total lift, or did you already change your sig?

I will have seven inches of lift not counting my thirtyfive inch TXRs. Can I count them?
