My 1988 xcab build

1988 Toyota xcab 22re, auto 4x4. She’ll be up and running soon, doubling as a daily driver and hunting rig, flat bed planned and eventually sas. So this is where it will be documented

my name is Joey and I got this truck from a friend for 390 bucks. Apparently 12 miles after a paid head gasket job she overheated and he got pissed and for some reason the drivers door and fender suffered from a size 8 boot. It has some rust in the cab but nothing crazy and nothing I can’t fix. Gonna start wrenching on it tomorrow, I’m waiting to do any cosmetic stuff to it till I get it running. I’ve already ripped the carpet out and will be doing new carpet and cleaning up and dying the dash as well as fixing the crack in dashboard. It sports a 4” lift now and 33s, and no money will go into the suspension, I’ll be saving for sas. Here she is in all her glory, until tomorrow and I get more pics. I plan to document the whole rebuild.

That tomorrow is today now! Where are those pics?

There are a dashboard cap in eBay if you want to go that route.

There is a couple of threads of members who installed that dashboard cap, it looks good IMO.

Went and got new starter. Turns over strong and fast. All electronics works, but I can’t get the motor to turn over. Sprayed starter fluid in the plenum, in the air box, just cranks. Occasionally it will sound like it’s cstching and wants to turn over but just doesnt. The coil has spark, I ended up tossing a screwdriver across the driveway when I found out it did.
compression test goes as follows
1-140
2-75
3-145
4-115

that was a Matco compression gauge.

still stumped on why it’s not firing.
