Hey y'all,

I'm a long time lurker and new member. I'm replacing the headgasket on my '90 pickup and have found a part that I can't ID that looks broken. On the Passenger side of the block, just behind and above the oil filter. SEE PIC. It's the piece just to the left of the flashlight beam (though it shows up just above the way the pic is oriented) . It looks like it might be broken, but I don't even know what it is or how to find it. If it is broken, it's been hidden and broken for some time. Please help me out. THANKS!

 

Knock sensor
edit: the broken bit seems like it's just part of the weather seal connector housing.. it used to connect to your engine harness and probably snapped when you removed the intake runners. It would have thrown a code and ran very poorly (low on power).

 

Which means you should have code 52. Have you checked for codes?

 

@Co_94_PU it was running low on power, but I thought that was from bad compression due to the bad headgasket.
@scope103 I havent had it all hooked back up since finding that piece, so I haven't checked for any codes.

This is my o2 wire, yours will be different, note the shielding and where it exits the sheathing.
Somewhere in there is the knock sensor, and I'm assuming it's visible but not sure in the thumbnail..
nope can't see it, it's similar length to the oil sensor but round and shielded..
