I hate carburetors!
I've got a newly rebuilt Aisin carb that actually runs real good that I'll let go for $75 plus shipping. I was running it on my 82 2WD and the ONLY reason I removed it was because I stripped ALL of the smog stuff out from under the hood and went with a Weber/cam/header for increased performance. Let me know if you're interested.

I would definitaly be interested, Im going to try swapping out the old vacuum lines first and make sure its not ignition / compression related, I wish there was a way to check the cat without dropping the exhaust!! It could be that it just hasnt ran in a while, Ive put about 4 gallons of good gas in the tank with carb cleaner, I may run it to the gas station and top it off with good gas and see if it clears up some....

FWIW, I seriously doubt that there is anything wrong with the cat. I'm assuming it's still the stock cat... meaning that it has the beads in it and it's not the honeycomb type that clogs up.

Dump a can of Seafoam in the tank when you fill up and replace your vacuum hoses...that will probably help alot. If not, and you want the carb, just let me know. Good luck!

If you do this, be CAREFUL to make sure the new wheels have enough offset. I did this once on my '79, and the wheels pushed my calipers into my rotors...

No harm was done, but it took me like 10 minutes to figure out why the hell the truck wouldn't move...

I could probably go snap some tomorrow, but the door panels are like 10 years old now. They sill look good, but not as good as they did originally.

I also covered the floor to ceiling plastic pieces that were on the "B" pillars, they were all cracked and munched. After 10 years of abuse and neglect, sitting in the damp in my driveway, that 3m spray adhesive is still holding up...

Ilovemountains:

Here are the best information resources I have found so far for the Aisin carbs:

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=249626
http://www.bluebassdesign.com/boonin/carb_faq/

Between the two of those, you should have all the info you need for vacuum line replacement and carb adjustment.

hey, totally nice find!!! i've been tryin to find one of these up in here in alaska. i'd love to have a trekker!!!! well about your miss in your engine, it's probably your carb. my little brothe rhad the same thing goin on with his'84. we replaced the fuel filter. helped a little but not the results i thought we'd get. so i took off the top of he air cleaner and looked the carb and it had all kinds of grey gunk and build up in it. so we replaced the pcv valve and sprayed some carb cleaner in the carb to clean that gunk out and the thing runs like new. it's been running great ever since. i don't know if this will solve your issues but just something you could give try out. anyways, very nice find, good luck

As promised, here you go. Keep in mind that these were built 10 years ago, used hard, and then put up wet for 5+ years.
