Maybe just the Texas heat and your thinking too hard?

Kinda sounds like input shaft bearing to me, Clint.

if it's making noise in neutral, it's not likely on the input shaft since the i/s isn't mated to the output shaft.
have you tried putting the transfer case into neutral to see if you can isolate the transmission from the rest of the driveline?

Thanks. Was thinking about aluminum, but aint got access to a tig so I'll probably go with that trex material with some channel as a frame, then make a cage later on down the road.

Aint in town so I caint mess around with it for a few days. Any more ideas? So far all I got is to check the input shaft.

And I could also go ahead and do dual cases if I picked up this tranny/tcase too

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the V6 has 23 spline and the four cylinder has 21 splines. I don't think it will work.

You could get a kit to connect the 23 spline TC to your case. I was just looking at those kits today. I think I'd just put crawler gears in mine though. I haven't even done the SAS yet and probably won't for quite a while still.

My bed is steel. We laser cut the sides and formed them on the Press Brake. there are some thing I would like to do different though if I ever get to do it again.

Ok so I just put the tcase in neutral and ran it though all 5 gears from
Idle to probably 5.5k (by ear. Idiot cluster with no tach...) and everything sounded normal. No wierd noises.

So that means... Input shaft is okay?

So what now? Jack up the rear and have someone put it through it's paces with me under it listening for where the noise is coming from?

well, I thought thook and I already ruled out the input shaft? lol

anyways, yeah, you're in the process of elimination now. and i'd venture to say that the transmission itself is okay too since the xfer case was in neutral... so it seems the prob is between the output of the xfer case and the axles.

Yeah. Well here's what I've found. With tires off and in 4th and 5th it still makes the noise. With the driveshaft off and the tcase in 2hi it does not make the noise.

The slip shaft had a lot of play in it do I greased that zerk the hell out. Little less play but still noticable, and still makes noise.

So where's that leave me? That cross out the tcase output, and leave the slip shaft and gears still on my list?

Oh, after a consult with Mr. Anheuser, I think I beer-stormed a way to test the gears without pulling my 3rd. Drive it in fwd mode. Unhook the rear drive shaft and put er in 4hi. If it makes the noise, it's the gears and not an unbalanced shaft or fubar'ed slip shaft.
