Cruise Control Fixed on 2cnd gen

This is a repost, somehow it's now in the wrong forum.

I think I may have fixed my cruise controls ability to stay in overdrive.

Thanks to a post by dandeman at 4x4wire.com who had a fix for an older Toyota.

The problem I had and I believe others as well, is that when using the cruise control it often wanted to kick overdrive off in situations where it wasn't warranted - like cruising on level ground (bad cruise).

I cut wire no. 7 (Yellow with a Red Stripe) coming out of the CC ECU in the left kick panel. My wiring diagram indicated that this wire on CANADIAN vehicles was involved with the O/D relay.

I have since completed many highway trips (since August 2004) and the cruise worked as it should. It still kicks overdrive out, but only when going up hills. It works the same as if I was using my foot on the throttle. I have thought I'd fixed it before and it worked well for a few trips but this seems to have worked.

disclaimer - I really have no idea what I'm doing so I don't know if this will have any negative impact on my transmission or will work on other years-models- or country of origin

My wire diagram says its the No.7 Wire coming out of the cruise control computer green with blue stripe. Does anybody know if their is a difference with canadian and US 4runners or has anybody else done this to theirs.
