Windrock TN Ride...Nov. 27th!

So, this is the followup ride to the ride we just had at Tellico. If I can get away Friday half the day, I'd like to do some riding on Friday too, but I'll just have to see. Saturday would be a full day, for sure. Who's game?

Check my pages on my website, and you'll see some of it:

It's got a lot of fun stuff, different that Tellico. You'll love it!

I should be game, crash at your house?

There is really no decent camping near there like Tellico is there?

Count me in.

Now, gotta go fix that locker and figure out why I'm leaking gear oil out the rear axle and into the brake drum-axle seal I hope is all that is wrong-although those seals are only 1 year old-less than 10k miles.

the seal is a chronic issue with our years. mine goes and now I just live with it until I feel like changing it. I just make sure every rotation that it hasn't saturated the brake shoes and slap the tire back on. I think it's a Toyota design issue that they won't admit to.

I have to see what my plant's shut-down looks like for the end of this month in order to make a call. I won't know until a couple ddays before but since I missed Tellico I want to try to make this one. I think I pissed Austin off for not showing up, hehe.

If you're checking mapquest, it's in Oliver Springs, which is directly west of Oak Ridge, TN.

As far as camping goes, there's definitely spots to camp, but there aren't any showers. I'd say no problem to having people stay at my house, but my mom's entire side of the family it going to be staying at my house, my parents house, and my sister's house, so we'll be completely full. If you can stand not to have a shower, the camping is free. If you definitely need a shower, there are multiple hotels in town, not far at all.

Also, the trail fee is $10/day, which is double Tellico's, but at least you won't have to pay for camping.

I just found that the orings or seal in my rear locker is toast so it's not working. ARB is sending me new ones but I don't know if I'll have to to drop the diff, fix the locker and re-setup the gears and reinstall before this run. I may find that the ring gear and pinion are toast too since I feel a clunk when I take off now. I hope that's not the case. so it'll depend on that whether I can go or not.

I'm going - wife will probably go.

Brett - you and Brandi can come to the house - I live 1/2 mile from Chris.
You can either bring your camper and I'll supply the electricity or you can bring an air mattress - I have a room but no bed there yet.
Anybody else that wants to camp - I have a big back yard. Lot's of room for a camp fire to.

I have to get my sliders finished and installed.

Thanks Doc. I'm not sure of my plans just yet. I think Brandy is going to be out of town. If I do come, I call the spare room!

Aww man,
Just saw this thread...

Hmmm, I might be able to make it but I think i might have to sit this one out. I will be in raleigh on thursday and winston-salem on friday for a cousin's b.day. Will there be any wheel'n going on sunday? How far is it from asheville? Any towns near by to mapquest? I'm not sure if I'm going to be spending the night in winston friday or not, but the whole family is going to be there, so I don't really have much choice in the matter. If not though I'll definately be down. Don't worry guys, I'll have a spare cv!! Doc, would it be ok if I crashed on the floor, or on the sofa or something if I did end up comming? I'm not too picky. If not thats fine I could just drive up for the day and then drive back. It doesn't sound far from asheville anyway...

I got my bodylift on last night No more rubbing for me!

J, I'm not pissed at you for not comming. How could I be pissed, its not like you didn't want to come. Eventhough I do want your wheels!! We could have an asheville meet and greet sometime or maybe a wrench day at mike's shop. I know I'll be there sometime to re-do my sliders. They look like nerfbars now with the bodylift. I'm so happy though. I actually have to step up into my rig now! Thats a FIRST for me. My projects for the break from school are the sliders and OBA. Ive almost got all the money I need, but not quite there. Anywho... back to windrock!

We'd love to have ya with us. I'm probably going to wheel all day on Saturday, and depending on what the family is doing I might be able to on Sunday, but I'd guess probably not. I'm definitely good for Saturday, and I'm working on Friday too if anyone's game. There's at least a good full 2 days worth of riding out there if everyone is willing to do everything from easy to hard. It's a great place!
