I got my home built machine running ubuntu, and hooked up to my hd tv.... I personally cant stand microscum...and apple isnt much better!
I like the idea of bulding my own...its relatively simple, and if something goes wrong in the future... you cant fix it asap, as opposed to sending back to dell, or paying a shop to do it....kinda the same way with my vehicles....

wow I had missed these later posts or I had unsubscribed or something. I plunked down money tonight on Amazon for a Fantom 1TB external hard drive to start saving up all my photos and the important stuff-just in case...

some say their drives are made by Western Digital and others say they are Seagate's doesn't really matter to me...

We'll get this baby opened up/blown out and shop for some memory too.

Thanks for the inputs guys. I learned all about MR2s from Death Cougar and toylocost and now you guys got my back on the computer side. Really nice feeling having some experts just a few keystrokes away.

okay we blew out the dust bunnies and for having a dog in the house it was not as bad as I expected. We disconnected the slave Hard Drive and that messed things up so we reconnected it and all is well again.

Ordered up 2 more sticks of 256MB DDR RAM from my new best friends at OEMPCWORLD as they offered free shipping and great pricing. $22shipped to my house for the memory.

Could have spent more of course and gotten more RAM but I figured doubling it for $22 was a good enough deal for what I use it for.

And gives me more money to spend on the MR2 and the Runner...

thanks guys for being around so I have some confidence in my abilities to upgrade and save.

If you are still following along-I installed the addl. 512MB of RAM and the system is running faster to download photos for example.

NO show yet on the Fantom external Hard Drive but it should be here any day now.
