Chris, I am using Vidora now.
I rename the VOB files to *.mpg, and then Vidora converts them to both the MP4 iPod format, or to the PSP format with another version of Vidora made for the PSP.

Vidora works very well, and it is free.

Should be a post by me in this section on how to convert VOB and MPGs over to the iPod format.

I have been doing this kind of conversion work for a few years now. I use DVD Decrypter to rip DVD to VOB files, then I use AutoGK to convert to MPEG4 avi (Divx or XVid). It takes awhile, but my new Athlon 64 rig takes care of the conversion much quicker than my old P4 system did! My $0.02.

I got tired of the one off codecs that AutoGK seemed to want me to use...

I've tried downloading that software, but both times it gave me an error when I tried to install it.

Is it free, or did you pay?

I have the paid version. I use it a lot, so it made sense to get the whole enchilada. I used to use several programs that did part of what I needed to be done, but that does everything and translates to pretty any format I could want.

I give it two thumbs up.
