photoshop / software issue!!

ok, heres the story:

years ago, i got a full version of photoshop 5.0 purchased for me by someone who wanted me to build a website for them.

a couple of years later, while in college, a friend came across a 6.0 upgrade, so i installed it on my computer. i dont have that disc, nor am i in touch with that friend.

so i have photoshop 6 on my computer.

now, for my current job, i brought in my copy of 5.0. in designing a site here, i realized there are a TON of features in 6.0+ that i love and need. so i bought the upgrade to photoshop CS2 (latest photoshop), and am expecting to be refunded by work of course.

so i installed it on my home machine this weekend, and it worked just fine.

so I bring it in here to work today only to find it DOESNT WORK on 5.0, you need 5.5+.

im really stuck here.. i opened the software, so i cant return it. two solutions:

1) I found a site called retrosoftware.com that sells 5.5 & 6.0 full versions for over $200.

2) i found a photoshop 6.0 upgrade cd from an amazon seller for 59.99 before shipping.

i guess #2 is my best option. anyone else have any suggestions????

and downloading PS 7.0 for free isnt an option? Only reason its so expensive is because they can make it so expensive....But I guess if you going to be using it for business its best off to buy it.

So i GUESS option #2 is your best....heheh

lee,

put a request to purchase it through your manager or company.

i got VERY lucky here folks. on a hunch, i decided to just go ahead and copy the PS6 files that are on my home computer onto a CD... then i just copied them on my work computer.. which by some miracle gave me a working PS6.

then i stuck in the CS2 disc, at first it didnt find PS6, so I pointed it to the right directory and... BLAMMO! its working.
