MS Automatic restart nuisance

I hate the auto reboot feature after certain updates. When I am programming, I sometimes walk away and find my computer has rebooted and shut down everything without saving anything.
I don't know which bright mind at MS came up with this idea, but I think he should be shot, twice.
This has literally cost me hours of work.

I guess I am not the only one, I came across this thread:

There are some solutions to get rid of the auto restart feature. It's quite annoying to get that message every 10 mins when you're working on something.

I don't mind the auto update feature, I prefer to leave that on. I just don't want the computer to be restarted automatically. It's a laptop, so it is only on when I am using it normally. My regular pc does it during the night, then it's no big deal.

It's just a big mistake on MS part to reboot a computer without the user telling it do so imo.
