dvd burners
hey guys,... im somewhat computer savy, but im at my wit's end. i bought a new motherboard a few months ago(jetpro i believe it is) i run dual dvd burners, and both were working fine before the mb swap. now they wont burn correctly. doesnt matter if its dvdr, cdr, etc etc. one of them has lightscribe and that works fine. but i cant seem to get dvds or music burned onto discs.
ive done all updates via windows, i also did driver updates from manufactors for each burner, ive uninstalled/reinstalled drivers and so far nothing has worked.
device manager shows no conflicts and states everything's working fine(yeah right). i believe i used the same ide cables(never had a problem with them)...
are there any advice/suggestions in order to get these dumb things working?

You may have already done this, but have you tried a different burning software? You could try burning a disk with iTunes (since it is free) and see if that works. I use pc's in my office but I use Macs at home where I burn disks and have never used iTunes on a PC (I am telling you this because I am assuming you can burn from iTunes on a PC). If not you could just find a freeware burner somewhere just to test. Also, did you double check all the dipswitches etc on the burners to make sure they are set up correctly for your new motherboard?
Good luck!

yes and yes, i checked jumpers, and tried different burning software(windows media player, neo, and dvd burning software) as i mentioned before, the only burning that works is lightscribe. they read/play cds/dvds.... just wont burn. driving me to the point where im fixing to take the computer into the street and ramp it.

I've had similar problems with a dvd burner. It just would not work with a certain motherboard, but two dvd burners thats not right. Have you tried using a different EIDE cable, and do you have your master and slave settings right?

Are they HP drives? If so...replace them, they're horrible. OK, just me, but HP drives suck for me...
Also, what else did you do when you upgraded the mobo? Why did you upgrade the mobo? Add a GPU or hard drives or anything else? Are you running XP, or some other version of Windows? Also, installing drivers are a waste of time, XP (if that's what you're using) should handle the drives just fine, you shouldn't need drivers for a cd/dvd drive of any type.
Check your power supply. You can usually do this in the BIOS, and make sure each rail (there are 5 rails typically) has the correct voltage (+5V, -5V, +3v, +12V, -12v). My brother's HP acts up all the time, but it's because he needs a new PS, since 2 of his rails are under-volting.
What are the other details of the computer? Processor/RAM/HD/GPU/PS, etc.

replaced mb cuz i locked up my old one when i tried to overclock my new graphics card. running two hds(250 gig and 60 gig). i believe the hds are hooked up to one ide cable, and the dvd burners are hooked up to another ide cable. jumpers are set correctly as mentioned before. running windows xp. running amd 64 3200 2.21g with 1 g ram. rails should be good as p.s. is new(rosewell) and pushes 450 volts no problems.
