Try this:

1. Open a command prompt - Start -> Run -> cmd -> Enter.
2. Enter 'ping www.yotatech.com' (no quotes).
3. The result should look like this if your network connection is good:

4. If you get "request timed out" 4 times, try the next few commands:

ping 192.168.1.1 (ping your default gateway as shown in IPCONFIG /ALL)
ping 127.0.0.1 (that will ping your local loopback address - basically a test)
ping 69.59.163.130 (if pinging your default gateway fails, this will definitely fail too)

 

Just let me know which ones work, and which ones don't.

You have another laptop connected wirelessly to the same router that can browse the Internet? From the results you just posted, it appears that your laptop is communicating with your router but is not getting through it.

I'm assuming you have two computers connected to a wireless router, which is connected to a modem, which connects to either a phone line (DSL) or cable line. Is that correct, or is it configured differently?

I'm assuming that 192.168.1.1 is your default gateway, which should be the address for your router. On your working computer, can you do an IPCONFIG /ALL, find the default gateway address, and then try opening that IP address in Internet Explorer?

Ah, I see. It looks like you have an internal modem, is that right? Your main computer is connected directly to the internet. The ethernet adapter in that computer doesn't have an IP address.

If that is the case, your main computer needs to act as a network bridge. It would work like this:

The laptops connect to the router. A request for a web site is sent through the router and relayed through the main computer to the Internet. As it looks now, the main computer is not getting an IP address from the router and therefore never receives the requests from the laptops. Can you check the ethernet cable to make sure it's plugged into the router and has a good link light?

the router is a linksys wireless B.

cable wire to modem, then wire from modem to router, and the wire from router to the computer. the laptops just have cards on the sides.

 

the wires are all connected properly. There is one thing though. Normally on the router where it is labeled # 1,2,3,4. The number one light is usually flickering, right now there is no light flickering under the number one.

 

That's odd.

This shows a "live" IP address. It should be in the range 192.168.X.X or 10.X.X.X. In other words, your ISP is assigning that IP address to your computer. With the router connected between the modem and computer, the router should receive that IP address, not your computer.

There's something weird going on in that router. Did you happen to get it from Comcast?
