Going by total playing time, for PC its going to be half-life (mainly teamfortress classic), starcraft, or diablo 2. for ps2, nothing touches gt4. for nes, blades of steel wins by a sliver.

I really only play PC games.
Favorite of all time is OperationFlashpoint. A military FPS. Similar to Ghost Recon, but in my opinion, MUCH easier to play, with a nice simple, but complete interface. Graphics are a bit outdated now, but game play is AWESOME.
PLUS, there are literally THOUSANDS of custom user mods, maps and missions online. The game comes with THE best mission editor I have ever seen.
The official game comes with aboot 20 single player missions, a bunch of multiplayer ones, AND best of all, a 42 mission (yes, 42!) campaign, plus two other large campaign packs available seperately. It took me almost 6 mos to complete the first campaign.
My OFP folder is over 5 Gigabytes, and I have only downloaded a few hundred mods, just a drop in the bucket. (can you tell I really LOVE this game yet?)...LOL
They have a newer updated version of this game coming out for PC, and revamped OFP itself and is out for Xbox.
I also love Spearhead. An old M1A2 tank simulator. Again, graphics are really outdated, but game play and interface is the best I've seen for a tank simulator.
For a racing/offroad game, I really like Powerslide.
I also really liked all the Tomb Raider games, and all the Star Wars games, especially the Jedi series.

i may have to go buy a Snes just to play ocarina of time again

I loved Goldeneye on the Nintendo 64. Also, Sonic Spinball for Genesis. I LOVE Chromehounds on Xbox360... it's awesome... So are the Lego StarWars Games... WOO! Also, I thought Ocarina of time was on the N64? Anyway, just get some emulators!

Before I would of put Super Mario Bros 3 in first place. But now that i've been playing the super highly addictive game of World of Warcraft, i think it is in 1st place. I was talking to one of the Suicide Girls and she said there is a reason it tis so popular, because it's super fun.

Those where the days:

You can even play some too. I still like 1942.
This one also kept me busy for a long time:

I second this one! I have played through it 4 times, I love the story. The attention to detail is amazing! You hear the sound of rain change if you stand next to a tin shed, you see pock marks on peoples faces, you get to drive cars that are based on real 1930's cars. For a 2002 game it actually looks a lot better than some 2006 games. Its more linear than GTA, but like a great movie, I see new things every time I play it.

Arcade: Tempest - the first true color video game
C-64: Elite - had so many hidden aspects that I doubt anyone had ever exploited them all
PC: Unreal Tournament - by far the best online FPS game ever made, can be modded to do almost anything

I owned all three of the games for N64 and play them with my dad to this day. I will own anyone in the arcade version!
The new LA Rush for the new consoles is a disgrace to the series, it involves modding the cars at shops and gangstas, etc....WTF?!?!

Starsiege: Tribes and Tribes 2. Ran a clan since 1999 for that game and make alot of friends. Plus we were once ranked #1 for a short while on the TWL Siege ladder.
Boy I miss those days.
